Zambia's Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) uses beneficial ownership (BO) register data to uncover procurement fraud and refer case to law enforcement
Zambia's FIU identified a pattern of procurement fraud in which falsified BO information concealed the real owners of companies awarded government contracts. In one case, analysis of BO data and links to procurement officials provided sufficient evidence to refer the case to law enforcement for possible asset forfeiture.
