UK and Ukrainian beneficial ownership (BO) data helps identify the company that bought the Beirut blast's ammonium nitrate and link its registered address to firms tied to individuals sanctioned over the Syrian regime

After the 2020 Beirut explosion, investigators used the UK's People with Significant Control register and Ukrainian BO data, via the Open Ownership Register, to trace the company that bought the detonated ammonium nitrate and its beneficial owner, and found it shared an address with firms connected to individuals sanctioned for ties to the Syrian regime.
