Cross-matching France's beneficial ownership (BO) register against the land registry finds the real owners of 71% of corporate-owned property parcels remain anonymous

A Transparency International and Anti-Corruption Data Collective study cross-matched France's public BO register with land-registry data on corporate real estate. It found that 31% of companies had declared no beneficial owner, that the real owners of 71% of corporate-owned parcels remained anonymous, and that only 63% of sociétés civiles immobilières – the main property-holding vehicle – had disclosed their owners.
