Lack of beneficial ownership (BO) verification enables mass registration of UK companies linked to “pig butchering” fraud schemes
Analysis found 168 UK-registered companies linked to fraudulent cryptocurrency trading schemes – many sharing addresses or domain registrations. Most directors are resident abroad and companies are registered at residential or non-commercial addresses. The pattern points to gaps in BO verification enabling mass corporate abuse by organised crime.
