Nigeria's Mining Cadastre uses beneficial ownership (BO) data to catch fee evaders reapplying under new company names, more than doubling revenue
Nigeria's Mining Cadastre used BO data to identify title holders with outstanding licence fees who had reapplied using newly incorporated companies. They used BO data to decide whether new licences should be awarded to specific companies. By doing so, the authority recovered debts or rejected applications, generating NGN 4.3 billion (approx. USD 9.8 million) in revenue in 2021 – more than double the 2018 level.
